Listen to him. He listens to God.

He who does not listen to God has nothing to say to men.
— Hans Urs von Balthasar
“My real program of governance is not to do my own will, not to pursue my own ideas, but to listen, together with the whole Church, to the word and the will of the Lord, to be guided by Him, so that He Himself will lead the Church at this hour of our history. ”
– Pope Benedict XVI at the Mass of Inauguration of his Petrine MinistryApril 24, 2005
Listening as a Counter-Part of Silence
True silence is sometimes absence of speech–but it is always the act of listening. The mere absence of noise which is empty of our listening to the voice of God is not silence. A day filled with noise and voices can be a day of silence, if the noises become for us the echo of the presence of God, if the voices are for us messages and solicitations of God. When we speak of ourselves and are filled with ourselves, we leave silence behind. When we repeat the intimate words of God that he has left within us, our silence remains intact.

Here is a heart that belongs completely to You- St. Teresa de los Andes

St. Teresa of the Andes – letter 36
To Mother Angelica Teresa Santiago, September 7, 1918
“I keep myself closely united to Our Lord within the home of my soul. Whenever I go out on the street or to the theater or to take a walk, I tell Our Lord: “My Jesus, although perhaps no one here is thinking about You, but here is a heart that belongs completely to you. I adore You, I love You. Make me Yours always.” In this way I keep myself recollected and removed from worldly things and every time we must go out, we must promise to remain united to Our Lord in the cells of our souls.”

*****

In a letter to her brother Luis dated 11 June 1919, shortly after she had entered the monastery, she wrote “How fortunate I am to sacrifice all for God! But this all is nothing in comparison to what Our Saviour sacrificed for us, from the crib to the Cross, from the Cross even to humbling Himself completely under the form of bread. He, wholly God, under the species of bread, and even to the consummation of time. Oh the grandeur of infinite love! A love which is not known, a love which is unreturned by the majority of men…

You ask me to assure you in my letters that I love you always as a sister. Do you doubt it for an instant? Perhaps you do not know that my heart is perfected by the divine love, and the more perfect it is, the greater and more profound is my love? Well, then, do not doubt for a moment that I pray for you and that my prayer is a song of love… When one is in love, he cannot talk about any other object than his beloved. And when the beloved unites in himself every possible perfection, what then? I do not know how I can do otherwise than contemplate him and love him. What do you want, if Jesus Christ, that Madman of love, has driven me mad? I endure a martyrdom, Luis, when I see noble and well born hearts, hearts capable of loving what is good, not loving the immutable Good…”

She died 12 April 1920

Prayer to Jesus Abandoned

Posted on April 14, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Prayer to Jesus Abandoned
With Mary Immaculate, let us adore, thank, implore and console, the Most Beloved and Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many Tabernacles, without visitor or worshipper I offer Thee my poor heart. May its every throb be an act of love for Thee.
Thou art always watching beneath the Sacramental Veils; in Thy Love Thou dost never sleep and Thou art never weary of Thy vigil for sinners.
O lonely Jesus, may the flame of my heart burn and beam always in company with Thee.O Sacrament most Holy, O Sacrament Divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every momentThine!

***

At the Elevation of the Sacred Host

O MY Savior! with sincere humility I adore Thee, and offer Thee up, by the hands of the priest, to Thy Heavenly Father in reparation for my sins and for the sins of the whole world.

At the Elevation of the Chalice

Most Precious Blood, flow on my soul and sanctify it! May the love through which Thou wast shed for me be enkindled in my heart, and purify it!
***
Suzanne Wrotnowksa (Mother Marie des Douleurs) prayed in the crypt of the basilica of Montmartre on the morning of April 11, 1930:
Behold, we are Yours;make us whatever You will.
We ask to be little hosts immolated on the altar of Your Heart.
We have only one desire:it burns intensely, and You have put it in our souls:
we want our lives to be but a moment of Your Passion.
We do not want to die without having fulfilled in our flesh what is lacking to Your sufferings for the sake of Your Body which is the Church.
We are happy to surrender ourselves entirely to You by this consecration;
we renounce once and for all the right to dispose of ourselves.
O Divine Master,we place our life in Your hands with an immense confidence,
becoming, as it were, strangers to ourselves.
Make use of us as You please.
In the fire of Your infinite love consume us.
Take us, like little hosts, into Yourself forever . . . .

Prayers for the Dying from Little Company of Mary, Australia
Eternal rest give to those who die this day dear God.
Those who die alone, uncared for;
those whose fear of life
or lack of hope leads them to end their lives.
Lift them into you, and grant them your peace and sure joy. Amen

Loving Spirit of God, have mercy on the dying
Those dying in pain and suffering
Those dying in fear and loneliness
Those dying from hunger and a lack of physical resources
Those dying violent deaths
Those dying without any knowledge of your infinite tenderness and compassion.
Bring to all a sense of your presence. Guard them as the apple of your eye. Shelter them in the shadow of your wings and enfold them in your presence. This we ask through Christ our Lord, Amen.
