CCC # 2279

Even if death is thought imminent, the ordinary care
(food and water)
owed to a sick person cannot be legitimately interrupted.
The use of painkillers(if they agree to this or request it)
to alleviate the sufferings of the dying,
even at the risk of shortening their days,
can be morally in conformity with human dignity
if death is not willed as either an end or a means,
but only foreseen and tolerated as inevitable .
Palliative care is a special form of disinterested charity. As such it should be encouraged.

Prayer for Priests- www.clerus.org- Commendation of the Holy Father

Prayer for Priests

Lord Jesus, present in the Most Blessed Sacrament,
and living perpetually among us through Your Priests,
grant that the words of Your Priests may be only Your words,
that their gestures be only Your gestures,
and that their lives be a true reflection of Your life.
Grant that they may be men who speak to God on behalf of His people,
and speak to His people of God.
Grant that they be courageous in service,
serving the Church as she asks to be served.
Grant that they may be men who witness to eternity in our time,
travelling on the paths of history in Your steps,
and doing good for all.
Grant that they may be faithful to their commitments,
zealous in their vocation and mission,
clear mirrors of their own identity,
and living the joy of the gift they have received.

We pray that Your Holy Mother, Mary, present throughout Your life,
may be ever present in the life of Your Priests.
Amen

Vatican. Through the Secretary of State, the Holy Father Benedict XVI has expressed his personal satisfaction to the Congregation for the Clergy for the initiative of that Congregation entitled “Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity” which is currently spreading throughout the world.

The Supreme Pontiff, “grateful for the thoughtful action and the sentiments that the Congregation has suggested, and hopeful that the love and devotion to the Eucharist Lord and devotion to Mary, Mother of Christ the High Priest might give new fervour to the life and the apostolate of priests, imparts his apostolic blessing” as a seal of that hope.

Feast of St. Mark the Apostle – Priest’s Prayers

Posted on April 25, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized |

The God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:10-11

Priest’s Prayer- OSA
O Lord, God of Hosts!
You made Your Angels winds,
and Your servants flames of fire!
Send Your messenger spirits out in the power of Your Word,
to call laborers into the harvest, to add their light to our words
when we preach Your Gospel,
and to call the faithful to the Wedding Feast of the Lamb.
Send forth Your Angels as flames of fire to purify our hearts,
to teach us anew holy reverence before You
as we stand at Your altar ,
as once Your angel taught Moses from the Burning Bush!
May Your Angels strengthen us in all that is good,
inflame our hearts with Your love,
and with their flaming sword protect us
and our flock from the roaring lion
that roams about seeking the ruin of souls.
Grant that by heeding their voice
and following the light of their inspirations,
we may escape all evil and come to the eternal home
that You have prepared for us,
so that together with Your angels and saints
we may sing Your praises for ever and ever. Amen.

1 The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre’s sake, but voluntarily:
3 Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart. 4 And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory. 5 In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace.
6 Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation:
7 Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you.
8 Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.
9 Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you.
11 To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.
12 By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand.
13 The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark.
14 Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Litany for humility

LITANY OF HUMILITY
by Cardinal Merry Del Val(October 10, 1865-February 26, 1930)O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being honored,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being praised,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being despised,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That in the opinion of the world,
others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I,
provided that I become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
