Continue to pay attention as you would to a light that shines in a dark place as you wait for day to come – 1 Peter 19 July13,2008

Patrem immensae majestatis……

Father of Majesty unbounded…

For we have not by following cunningly devised fables
made known to you the power,
and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;
but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

(we did make known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ)

for he received from God the Father
honor and glory,

when there was borne such a voice to him
by the Majestic Glory

This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased,
in whom I have found my delight,
whom I love and in whom I delight.

And we ourselves heard this utterance
made from heaven when we were with Him
on the holy mountain
So we regard the words of the prophets
as confirmed beyond all doubt.

You’re doing well by paying attention to their words.
Continue to pay attention as you would
to a light that shines in a dark place as you
wait for day to come
and the morning star to rise in your hearts.

Understanding this first,
that no prophecy of scripture
is made by private interpretation.

For prophecy came not by the will of man
at any time: but the holy men of God spoke,
inspired by the Holy Ghost.

But false prophets also arose among the people,
just as there will also be false teachers among you,
who will secretly introduce destructive heresies,
even denying the Master who bought them,
bringing swift destruction upon themselves

who privately shall bring in damnable heresies,
who will secretly put forward wrong teachings
for your destruction,
even turning away from the Lord who gave himself for them;

But there were also false prophets among the people,
even as there shall be among you lying teachers,
who shall bring in sects of perdition,
and deny the Lord who bought them:

False prophets were among God’s people in the past,
as false teachers will be among you.

They will secretly bring in their own destructive teachings.
They will deny the Lord, who has bought them,
who will cunningly introduce fatal divisions,
disowning even the Sovereign Lord who has redeemed them,

Many will follow their sensuality,
and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned.

And many shall follow their riotousnesses,
through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways,
And many shall follow their lascivious doings,
And a great number will go with them in their evil ways,
through whom the true way will have a bad name.

Many people will follow them in their sexual freedom
and will cause others to dishonor the way of truth.

And in their immoral ways they will have many eager disciples,
through whom religion will be brought into disrepute.

And many shall follow their dissolute ways,
through whom the way of the truth shall be blasphemed.

and many shall follow out their destructive ways,
because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,

et multi sequentur eorum luxurias per quos via veritatis blasphemabitur

and in their greed they will exploit you with false words;
their judgment from long ago is not idle,
and their destruction is not asleep.

et in avaritia fictis verbis de vobis negotiabuntur quibus iudicium iam olim
non cessat et perditio eorum non dormitat

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words
make merchandise of you

And in their desire for profit they will come to you
with words of deceit, like traders doing business in souls:

whose punishment has been ready for a long time
and their destruction is watching for them.

(2 Peter 1:19 and context)

Those receiving Holy Communion from the Pope will be kneeling

WYD: Communicants to kneel at papal Masses
Happy & Ready: Cardinal Pell

Fresh from greeting the Pope upon his arrival, Cardinal Pell was asked this morning by a journalist about how those receiving communion directly from the Pope would do so, when the time came, at the Final Mass during WYD08.

Following on from recent sightings at Vatican events where ‘older postures’ – kneeling to receive Holy communion on the tongue – have been adopted, his Eminence replied,”I think those receiving holy communion will be kneeling.”

St. Augustine – Behold, the ears of my heart are before you, O Lord: open them…

Posted on July 14, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Who shall grant me to repose in you?
By whose gift will you enter my heart;
and so inebriate it that I may
forget my own evils and
embrace you, my only good?
What are you to me?
Let me find grace to speak to you.
What am I to you, that
you should command me to love you…

What you are to me,
answer me for your mercy’s sake,
O Lord my God:
say to my soul- I am your salvation-
(Ps. 35[34],3)
Speak it aloud so that I may hear you.

Behold, the ears of my heart
are before you, O Lord: open them,
and say to my soul, -I am your salvation.-

I will run after that voice, and take hold of you.

St. Augustine

Youth are yearning and hungering for solid spiritual food-Fr.D.Zehnle WYD08

Posted on July 14, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized |

The youth are yearning and hungering for solid spiritual food, for people who will honestly present to them the Church’s teaching and the faith of Jesus Christ, for people who sincerely believe what they say. It is as Pope Benedict XVI has said: they hunger for the simple faith that reveals the purpose and meaning to life. The fields are ripe for the sowing. The soil of their hearts is more than ready to take in the Word of God but they need someone to present it to them. They also need to be separated a bit from their ordinary life to muster up the courage to toss aside the “cool” image and speak of the desires of their souls. When they do they listen and absorb well.

“He is not past, He is present now.” – John Henry Newman on the Eucharist

Posted on July 14, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized |

(excerpt)

It would be both fascinating and rewarding to follow the development of Newman’s belief in the Real Presence and to show how it is central to the development of his understanding of the nature of the Church. Such a scholarly piece of research on Newman’s thinking on the Eucharist would have to start with a discussion of it in the context of the Oxford Movement as a “eucharistic movement”1, and as such opposed to the rationalism and liberalism in religion at Oxford University, which the Tractarians called the religion of the day, and then show how Newman’s understanding of the Eucharist changed and how he was finally led to embrace the full Catholic doctrine on the Eucharist together with the full doctrine on the Church, before characterising his later preaching on the Eucharist.

Expect here something much simpler! Pope John Paul II was called home in the middle of the Eucharistic Year, which began on 7th October 2004. We now recognise it as his last wonderful gift to the Church. Newman the pastor can help us, as he helped his contemporaries – expressed with the late Holy Father: “to contemplate, praise and adore in a special way this ineffable Sacrament … the incomparable treasure which Christ has entrusted to his Church.” (Mane Nobiscum Domine 29) It had been Newman’s aim – as that of Pope John Paul II – to “encourage a more lively and fervent celebration of the Eucharist, leading to a Christian life transformed by love.” (Ibid.)

Come,Holy Spirit, come renew the face of the earth! MySpace poll results before WYD08

Many people will follow them in their sexual freedom
and will cause others to dishonor the way of truth.

And in their desire for profit they will come to you with words of deceit,
like traders doing business in souls:
whose punishment has been ready for a long time and their destruction is watching for them.
— 2 Peter 2:2-3

The article (below) from
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24015418-1702,00.html
is worthy of mention as an example of
how being in a lifestyle of sin and impurity blinds the
heart and mind of a person.

It also calls to mind the question
Why does MySpace seek to be considered the
voice of the young people? To lead them ? To sell them.
MySpace is telling them what they believe. That is not freedom.
We need to stop making moral choices based on the numbers
of persons who make the same choice.

The number of people choosing to do sin and evil for
whatever reason
NEVER makes sin and evil a good for others to choose.

Saying that a given large number of people are grouped together by
their bad choices does not make the choice a good chioice.

This “poll” is just another way of seeking to seduce into sin and error for profit
the young people most vulnerableto peer pressure and the desire to conform.
They are lost sheep without a shepherd. The voice of the Shepherd has been
driven out of the hearts and minds by a contrived media effort- and behind that
effort are the fallen angels seeking to rob these souls of their birthright.

I am a sheep too, so I know.
I am grateful for the Good Shepherd.

Impurity renders people prisoners, captives of vice.
Most of us have been there in varying degrees at some time,
and by the grace of God
and the intercession of the Immaculate Conception
were freed from this bondage
and given the
freedom of the sons and daughters of God.

Pray for the grace of purity and for perseverence.
Please pray for the young people in the whole world, especially at WYD and following it
all around the world. Please pray for all
of us in this atmosphere that is poisoned by impurity
everywhere. Even the people indifferent to the presence
and action of God are recipients of Love and Mercy.
Each one of us KNOWS we have been.
Jesus, I trust in You.

Let this be a reminder to all of us
not to compromise
ourselves in any way.
The battle for the mind, heart and soul is being waged.
Holy Angels of God, come to our assistance, Mary, help us!
Jesus, save us. Amen.

Catholic Church branded out out touch
July 14, 2008 12:29am
Article from: Agence France-Presse
A POLL by social networking giant MySpace brands the Catholic Church “out of touch” with young people, just ahead of its World Youth Day event in Sydney.
The online poll, which targeted Australians aged 14 to 24, found 77 per cent of respondents felt the church was out of touch with them.
Of “non Catholic and non-Christian” respondents, 65 per cent said World Youth Day held no relevance to them at all.
More than half (53 per cent) also said they would not participate in World Youth Day events, to be staged across Sydney over six days from Tuesday, because of the church’s stance on sexuality”. But that was not the most emphatic result, as 89 per cent overall rejected the Catholic Church’s teaching that they should remain virgins until they married.
Further poll findings include 61 per cent saying contraception, not abstinence, was their preferred way to prevent the spread of sexual disease and reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancy.
“With over one million young Australians on MySpace each month, we can legitimately say that MySpace is the voice of the youth,” Australia and New Zealand MySpace.com vice president Rebekah Horne said in a statement today.
