DEADLY SINS LIVING VIRTUE

DEADLY SINS
LIVING VIRTUE
Presented by Father Philip Bochanski

an Adult Faith Formation Series aboutFighting the Seven Capital Sins
Since the fourth century, Catholic spiritual masters in East and West have identified seven sins as the root and underlying source of the many struggles and temptations we face every day. Identifying and attacking these “capital” or “deadly” sins is a necessary foundation for any serious attempt at conversion and growth in virtue.
This series of presentations will draw from the spiritual wisdom and experience of the Fathers of the Desert; early moral theologians like St John Cassian and St Gregory the Great; great spiritual directors like St Philip Neri and Fr Lorenzo Scupoli; and the teachings of Sacred Scripture and the Tradition of the Church, to uncover each of these snares of the Enemy, and provide insights and tools for avoiding and overcoming them. In the process, we will develop strategies for fighting “the good fight of faith” (1 Tim 6:12), on the side of Jesus Christ. “Take courage,” he says to us, “I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33) — and he will share his victory with us.
